Bringing land, learning and community together

Riversmeet is a cooperative enterprise working to regenerate land and lives in North Cumbria.

We believe access to land, food

and learning should be a shared right, not a privilege.

From hands-on learning and community growing to regenerative farming and nature-based practice, Riversmeet is building the foundations of a more abundant, sustainable landscape — shaped by collective effort, ecological stewardship and a deep connection to place.

With our network of growers, facilitators, educators, and land workers we’re working to create a more resilient, nature connected future and supporting the next generation of landworkers with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive.

Community Growing

We grow food agroecologically, with and for our community — modelling systems that care for soil, people and planet.

Education & Training

Through workshops, seasonal schools and practical learning opportunities, we support people to develop land-based skills for life.

Access to Land

We are building a new model of land stewardship through cooperative ownership, enabling long-term access for growing and learning.

Nature Connection

Our work is grounded in permaculture and nature-based practices that support wellbeing, adaptability and a sense of place.

Our vision

We imagine an abundant, thriving landscape — rich in wildlife, shaped by regenerative farms, and home to a new generation of land workers growing fresh, nutritious food for the health and wellbeing of their local communities.

Our mission

We exist to strengthen community resilience and the ability to adapt to change. We do this by enabling relationships between people, land and local food — through access to land, education, hands-on experience and deep connection to the natural world.

Our roots and approach

Riversmeet is guided by the principles of permaculture, agroecological growing, and nature connection. We operate as a cooperative, grounded in the values of self-help, democracy, equity and solidarity. This means we work collaboratively, share knowledge openly, and make decisions together — always in service of the wider good.
